Chocolate Under Attack

OK, so I’m a confessed 100% true Chocoholic. I think it should be one of the essential food groups. So when I read this article and others on how MegaFoods (AKA Nestle, Hershey, etc.) want to remove chocolate from their products, replacing it with Godawful trans fats and such, yet still be able to call the product ‘chocolate’. Yeah, let’s remove even the smallest health benefits cocoa provides in it’s flavonoids in favor of cardiovascular poison. All, of course, in the name of profit.

So, what to do? Well, the FDA has a public comment period, and there’s a website – http://dontmesswithourchocolate.com where you can get more information, news updates and ways to register your comments with the FDA. The comment period has been moved from ending May 25 to June 25, so please do register your comments with them prior to the closure period.

Now, off to get myself a nice piece of *real* chocolate, cocoa and all.
